Terry Tan Child Centres strive to provide an enriched environment for all children from diverse backgrounds. The program is designed to meet the children's physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs. Terry Tan Child Centres are committed to the integration of children with special needs into the programs. Children are encouraged to learn by exploring and discovering their environment.
Trained Early Childhood Education teachers are responsible for developing and implementing the program under the supervision of the centre's Supervisor and Executive Director. The teachers provide a warm and nurturing atmosphere where positive behaviour is reinforced. The teachers also provide support and resources to families. Terry Tan Child Centres believe in an open door policy where families are welcome to participate in their child's program.

For over 40 years, the Terry Tan organization has been providing quality child care to families in the Etobicoke community. During that time we have grown from a small day care centre founded and operated by Terry and Kinzie Tanaka to a leading organization with two locations governed by a parent/community board of directors. Terry Tan Child Centre consists of two locations:
Bloordale and Eatonville – each with resources and staff
that meet the creative and learning needs of each child. Each
classroom is a vibrant learning environment full of resources
including computer systems, a wide selection of books and
a variety of toys, to mention a few – all carefully implemented
into everyday programming
Outdoors, children have supervised access to state-of-the-art
play structures, sand toys, bicycles, balls and a
variety of other activities/equipment.

The staff at Terry Tan Child Centre consists of qualified registered professionals in Early Childhood Education. With ongoing training through a variety of professional development workshops, the teachers at Terry Tan provide unique and diverse programming that stimulates the learning and growth of enrolled children.
The centre employs a cook who ensures that meals served to children meet their daily nutritional requirements.

Since 1994, Terry Tan Child Centre has been governed by a volunteer, parent/community Board of Directors. The seven-member Board ensures a high quality child care and educational program at the centre by developing appropriate policies, approving the centre's finances and reviewing its general operation.
To manage the day-to-day affairs of the centre in accordance with the established policies, the Board designates an Executive Director and a Supervisor at each site.

| From time to time, employment opportunities become available at Terry Tan. The centre also provides field placements for emerging ECE professionals at the college or university level as well as introductory placements for high school students.
